Oliver Schraa, M.Eng., has over 20 years of professional experience and specializes in process modeling and simulation, data reconciliation, process control, optimization, and design and costing of wastewater treatment plants. Oliver has experience with both municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants and has conducted projects for clients around the world.
Previously, Oliver was the President of Hydromantis ESS and prior to that was the Software Group Manager at Hydromantis, Inc.
He is the chair of WEF’s Operations Symposia responsible for developing the operations related part of the WEFTEC program, a past chair of the WEF Biofilm Interest Group (BIG), a member of the WEF Modeling Expert Group of the Americas (MEGA) and the WEF Plant Operations and Maintenance Committee (POM), and is an expert member of the IWA/WEF Design and Operations Uncertainty Task Group.
Oliver contributed to the following WEF publications: Wastewater Treatment Process Modeling – MOP No. 31, Nutrient Removal – MOP No. 34, and Solids Process Design and Management. Oliver was a reviewer for the IWA Good Modelling Practice Task Group’s Guidelines for Using Activated Sludge Models and is a reviewer for Water Science and Technology, Biotechnology and Bioengineering, and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
Before Hydromantis, Oliver worked at Honeywell Hi-Spec Solutions where he developed models for a steady-state and dynamic chemical process simulator (MASSBAL) and developed on-line optimization systems.
