Michael Patton, Vice President of Sales

Michael has been a technical sales and marketing leader in the environmental, energy, and water industry for more than 25 years.  Bringing innovative technologies to commercial success in these markets has been his trademark.  Prior to joining InCTRL Solutions as Vice President of Sales in 2021,  Michael was Executive Vice President of closely held Griswold Water Systems in Corona, CA where he lead both manufacturing, engineering operations and sales after originally joining as International Sales Manager in 2012.   Previously he was Vice President of Sales for evandtec, in Toronto and served as the General Manager of the Energy and Environmental Services Group for a large contractor in Dubai, UAE.  Prior, he was National Sales Manager and Director of Global Sales for Clearwater Systems Corporation.

Michael has more than 35 years of experience in the Mechanical Engineering field, including stints with mechanical contractors and with a manufacturers’ representative and is well versed in HVAC&R systems, process equipment, and building operations and commissioning.  He attended Syracuse University studying engineering and liberal arts and University of Hartford for Finance.

A member of ASHRAE, he serves as an active member of two technical committees related to his field, most notably Water Treatment technical committee on which he served as chair.  In 2017, Michael received the Distinguished Service award for his active leadership and participation in ASHRAE.  He is Chair of the Society Handbook Committee after leading content update and was the publishing of the 2020 Handbook volume on HVAC Systems and Equipment.  He is a member and the Chair of Standing Standards Project Committee 188 Legionellosis: Risk Management for Building Water Systems; and Guideline 12-2020 Managing the Risk of Legionellosis Associated with Building Water Systems. He is an Instructor on the topic of legionellosis for the ASHRAE Learning Institute and has conducted numerous session and talks on the topic.  He has enjoyed representing ASHRAE at conference, legislative, and public relations events as a spokesperson for the Societies’ effort to prevent legionellosis.  As a member of ASHRAE Standard 191P, he has helped craft a blueprint for efficient use of water in buildings.
